Drager’s digital anaesthesia monitoring tool improves perioperative care and enhances health care resource utilization
With an ageing population, and growing demand for more complex surgical procedures in patients with limited physiological reserves, the need to fine-tune anaesthetic management in order to optimize perioperative care is greater than ever. Both under-dosage and over-dosage of general anaesthetic can harm frail patients [1] and lead to increased length of stay in hospitals. Drager’s Smartpilot® View is an digital anaesthesia monitoring tool that illustrates the time course of a drug's disposition and effect, providing online visualization of pharmacokinetic–pharmacodynamic information during the clinical use of anaesthetics. It provides an easy-to-grasp overview of the current depth and the predicted course of general anaesthesia, if no parameter would be changed and facilitates a well-balanced dosing regimen of inhalation and IV agents and indicates estimated wake-up time.
A major efficiency factor in the OR environment is timing. Delayed patient recovery and postoperative drowsiness can have a negative effect on Post Anesthesia Care Unit utilization. The SmartPilot View supports the estimation of wake-up times with the help of a simple indicator.
SmartPilot® View helps to facilitate the processes of anesthesia induction, maintenance and recovery to improve patient care and enhance health system efficiency.
